Breaking up with the love of your life can make it feel like your world will never be the same again. It can seem useless to even bother with basic day-to-day activities, even to take care of yourself...but it doesn't have to be this way. If you apply the right plan, you can rise above this obstacle and get on with your life.
These are just a few important things to remember for right now:
1. Don't let breakup pain keep you from getting up and getting out. Going out with friends and having an active social life keeps your mind off your ex and can even improve your chances of getting back together!
2. Don't have TOO good a time, so to speak. Avoid drinking to ease the pain, because the more alcohol you have in you the more likely you're going to destroy your chances of reunion with a 3 AM "lonely phone call."
3. Keep away from any kind of contact with your ex for at least a month after the breakup. You two need time and space to miss each other, and provided this sometimes relationships almost heal on their own.
4. Make a plan and stick to it! Let your head call the shots, not your heart. When you let your feelings and emotions control your actions, you usually end up doing something stupid that really hurts your chances of getting back together.
5. Be ready to accept the possibility that the two of you aren't meant for one another. It's hard to think about, but if you two were really so incompatible as to have such a fiery end...maybe it just wasn't meant to be.
